A picturesque and charming village, nestled in the Middle Ages, all it is an architectural monument.
It is a symbolof pre-Pyrenean Romanesque art in its purest state
Located at the head of the Llierca river, 541 meters above sea level, its stone houses cluster around the stream of Beget. It is a town that allows a leisurely stroll, breathing fresh air and nature.
The population disseminated in good part, focuses on the core of Beget and scattered farmsteads around. His term adds the village of Rocabruna, Salarsa valley and the mountains of Bestracà.
Dominates the entrance to the magnificent church of Sant Cristofor de Beget the twelfth century that jealously guards the Majesty of Beget, a Romanesque sculpture of Christ Majesty dressed in tunic and only of its kind in Catalonia.
It has its origins in the Middle Ages and is known of its existence as parish at least since 1168. Two medieval bridges nestled in time crossing the river at different points and most houses and streets keep the original appearance of ancient times, with the stone as absolute protagonist.
For centuries, life revolved around the church of Sant Cristòfol Beget (sX-XIII), and even today its main icono.Es a very small and relatively difficult to access by people and that happens quite unnoticed among tourists.
Houses Beget are generally seated on the rock, with walls of stone masonry and lime mortar and mud in the oldest and mortar hydraulic agglomerate buildings (remade in the nineteenth century) the facades of which, they were battered and painted in ocher, white and beige.
Most jambs and lintels of doors and windows are made of wood or stone ground. Arab tile roofs and doors and wooden windows with interior shutters.
Through the town two rivers: the stream of Rocabruna and Can França laugh or Trui. The two rivers allow you to enjoy a refreshing swim and clean and transparent water. Less than a km from the village and towards Oix, are Corraveu rafts, of great depth.
The source of the river is very close: about 30 minutes through the street leading to the rooms of the Hostal El Forn.
In the late eighteenth century, Begues had 662 inhabitants and in 1860, 1,309 inhabitants, since the population has been declining. In 2005 he had 27 inhabitants. It has become a core of second homes.
Until the eighteenth century the changes were not altered the traditional typology. But in recent years the adaptation as a second home of many buildings has defaced the type to absolutely peal all facades and rejuntarlas with mortar.
From the late eighteenth century to the mid-nineteenth century wooden eaves and balconies were introduced. The last constructions of Beget, until the growth stopped, adopted more eclectic compositions with balconies and iron railings, flat roofs and decorated facades.
At other times the municipality of Begues covers Rocabruna populations, Bestracà and Salarsa. At its peak (late nineteenth century), Beget had more than 1,300 inhabitants, an impressive figure considering that today are surveyed just over 20 people. Administratively.

How to get to Beget?
When people arrive in the GIV-5223 road, a small winding county with 2 accesses. The shortest is recommended that connects with the C-38 halfway between Camprodon and Molló. The turnoff is about 3km north of Camprodon and well seañalado: Rocabruna / Beget. This stretch is 14km from Rocabruna and there are many curves and the road is rather narrow. Throw him patience. The other, longer and winding, option is reached from the A-26 at the height of Castellfollit of the Rock. This road passes through Oix and walking 28km. Throw him a lot of patience. From Barcelona we suggest taking the C-17 to Ripoll and from there to Camprodon (about 2h 15 ‘).
